This position is located in the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Operations Office, Communications & Governmental Affairs Div. This position will serve as a Communications Specialist responsible for managing communications projects, timelines, and workflows; researching, writing, and editing materials for internal and external audiences; developing and improving communications processes and policies; and maintaining internal communications tools and resources, among other related duties.

Additional information on the qualification requirements is outlined in the OPM Qualification Standards Handbook of General Schedule Positions and is available at OPM's website: https://www.opm.gov/qualifications/standards/indexes/num-ndx.aspAll qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.MINIMUM FEDERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Qualifying experience for the GS-13 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to the GS-12 level which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.Examples of specialized experience include: developing communications policies and guidance that support substantive mission oriented program areas; implementing internal communications strategies and workflows that increase staff knowledge and engagement of communications practices and opportunities; developing communications products for a variety of audiences and stakeholders; and/or managing projects with complex program issues that contained complicating elements requiring the adaptation of communication techniques and evaluation criteria for the measurement and improvement of communication program effectiveness and/or organizational productivity. Knowledge of communications concepts, principles, and methods.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams and organizations.Knowledge of project management techniques.Knowledge of social media and Web site principles and evaluation techniques.Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.
