This position is located in the Legal Division, Corporate Litigation Unit of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation is responsible for conducting nationwide litigation involving the FDIC in its corporate capacity and for handling and providing legal advice on other “open bank” related issues.

Duties
Plans and manages activities related to litigation of the Unit and/or matters under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel or the Senior Counsel for the Unit. Program activities include planning, executing, and timely and accurate completion of complex discovery activities for the Unit/Section in connection with litigation and/or other matters.
Works closely and cooperatively with all Section managers, attorneys, and support staff to ensure that program activities are completed in a timely manner to meet deadlines, in accordance with applicable legal requirements, court rules, and policies and procedures established by the Corporation and the Supervisor.
Implements processes and procedures to be followed within the Unit/Section to efficiently and effectively respond to discovery, which includes the preparation of and responses to document requests and subpoenas; monitoring, planning, conducting, analyzing, and/or coordinating a wide range of electronic discovery functions; preparing and responding to requests and subpoenas for witness interviews and depositions; managing requests and responses from targets, witnesses, opposing parties, third parties, and other persons of interest; tracking and monitoring work to ensure work products are provided to oversight attorneys, management, or to the court; ensuring all internal and external deadlines are met; and tracking, managing, analyzing and creating reports reflecting costs of discovery activities in individual cases and across the program.
Appropriately handles sensitive and confidential tasks, which may involve high profile legal cases with programmatic impact and significant press coverage.
Continually seeks out and obtains appropriate training to stay abreast of developments relevant to the mission and objectives of the Unit/Section and to maintain the expert technical knowledge necessary to successfully perform operations for the Unit/Section. Developments relevant to the area include changes in legal requirements, court rules, Corporation policies, and accepted practices impacting discovery, privacy and security. Technical knowledge includes detailed understanding of complex technologies utilized to store, manage, search, retrieve and produce large volumes of data, including computer assisted technologies, technology assisted document review, data analytics, and tools to assist large scale managed reviews.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-12 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as:
Analyzing and evaluating case files to identify factual issues; providing litigation support by organizing documents, exhibits, and electronically stored information (ESI); drafting discovery requests and responses; and preparing pleadings.
