The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical and clerical support for the smooth operation of the School Age Center to include customer service, monitoring customer entry, data automation for maintaining files, assisting management with on-site supervision of the program in the absence of the School Age Care Coordinator, and others.

Duties

Acts as on-site supervisor, when necessary, if there are 24 or fewer children present in the facility. Establishes, updates, monitors, and maintains office records of various types. Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents. Provides customer service to patrons. Provides administrative support to School Age Care Coordinator and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Full/part-time employees occupying direct childcare positions are eligible for discounts IAW DAF AFSVC/CC Memo, 30 Sep 22; first child 100% / each additional child 25%. Other assigned CYP and FCC personnel are eligible for 25% discount.
  • Must complete additional training requirements to include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, First Aid, rescue breathing and food handlers.
  • Training may be conducted during evening and weekend hours.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours.
  • Must satisfactorily complete a physical and keep current on all immunizations.
  • Will be required to transport children in a motor vehicle. A valid, up-to-date driver’s license is required.
  • This is a drug testing designated position. Incumbent must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, and is subject to random testing for drug use.
  • This position has been identified as having “regular contact with children.” IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231. An FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) Check will be completed on any person selected for this position.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
  • Travel and relocation expenses will NOT be paid.
  • Required to complete SF-85 background check.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes performing a full range of standard and non-standard clerical assignments such as preparing a wide variety of recurring correspondence, internal reports, and other documents; preparing, submitting and maintaining time and attendance records; requisitioning office supplies and printing support; monitoring and managing reception desk, receiving telephone calls, greeting visitors, monitoring sign-in/out procedures and staff to child ratios; preparing billing documentation, completing, collecting, and recording fees, coordinating enrollment and orientation; providing administrative support to customers; resolving a variety of recurring/ non-recurring problems. OR EDUCATION: I have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have a combination of experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcript. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of office functions to screen telephone calls and visitors, prepare and review correspondence, and perform other administrative work of the organization. Knowledge of automated and/or physical filing systems and procedures and the subject matter content of the materials being processed. Knowledge of School Age Care program instructions, directives, and local policies and procedures. Ability to operate a cash register, credit card machine, and computer. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy. Skill in typing; a qualified typist is required. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
