This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. As the Legal Affairs and Policy Division Director, serves as chief counsel for the Office of the Federal Register and as the senior legal advisor to the Director of the Federal Register (OFR) and the Administrative Committee of the Federal Register (ACFR) on legal requirements that govern the Federal Register system and Executive branch rulemaking.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Basic Requirements: Applicants must (1) be a graduate of an accredited law school with a LL.B., J.D. or equivalent; (2) be an active member in good standing of the bar in a state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia. Specialized experience for the GS-15: You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-14 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes ALL of the following: - Conducting legal research and providing legal advice; AND - Reviewing administrative rules, proposed rules, and notices for compliance with legal and regulatory requirements; AND - Leading or supervising legal staff. This experience may have been gained in either the public or private sector. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Education

Education Requirements: Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited law school with a LL.B., J.D. or equivalent.

The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
