About the Position: This position is located at the Naval Health Clinic Charleston, South Carolina. - A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. - Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. - Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

Duties

Evaluates and installs sophisticated/complex medical equipment and/or systems to include (1) standalone equipment and/or components that contain integrated circuitry and/or microprocessors. Provides advice and assistance in equipment selection application, care, and operation. Ensures that cabling such as fiber optics, cat 5, Ethernets, etc., and hardware such as switches, hubs and converters are in place and are functioning and capable of interfacing with said hardware (modalities). Inspects patient care equipment to include receipt, inventory of parts, accessories, assembly, inspection, calibration, performance verification, parts replacement, documentation and interpretation of inspection results. Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, overhaul, and surveillance testing of electronic components, medical equipment and systems, and modifications based on official guidance.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
