You will serve as a RECORDS & INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Nuclear Inspection Division of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will serve as the primary, principal Records Information Manager (RIM) for the department. You will be responsible, as RIM, to ensure Naval Nuclear Propulsion Records are meeting record management laws, regulations, rules, policies for the entire life cycle of the preserved record and disposition requirements. You will provide advice and guidance to records liaisons and records custodians on RIM lifecycle requirements. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, training and formulating policies for the use and maintenance of records. You will determine disposition cycles to achieve adequate and proper documentation of the policies and transactions of the organization for effective and economical management of agency operations. You will coordinate the proper disposition of records consistent with government wide policies and procedures.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

FOR GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: administering and implementing a records management program by interpreting laws and regulations and recommending solutions for the entire life cycle phases (e.g., records creation, maintenance, use and disposition) to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: identifying procedures that improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the life cycle management (e.g., creating, retention, maintenance, processing, access, and disposition) of a records and information program to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-11:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR

GS-09:
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
