You will serve as a RECORDS AND INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE (CODE 105) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will evaluate higher authority directives and regulations to determine application within the codes and shops serviced. You will adapt guidelines to meet the unique records management needs of production shops. You will disseminate regulatory guidance and information to those employees assigned collateral duties for records management (records custodians) based on the diverse types of records and information maintained by individual shops. You will establish and maintain continuous collaborative relationships with records custodians to facilitate receptivity of processes, guidance, and overall participation in an effective records management program. You will modify or develop training regarding life cycle records and information management. You will coordinate, schedule, and present training based on new or updated regulations, changing processes, or observable training needs. You will respond to management requests, inquiries, and requirements by interpreting pertinent guidelines. You will use judgement judgment to resolve issues not directly addressed by regulations, or determine if referral to the Command Records Manager (responsible for records and information management across the command) is appropriate. You will maintain the Federal Record Center Share Point database with updated status and information. You will audit codes and shops to validate maintenance of complete organizational file plans. You will inspect record storage locations to verify proper storage and identification systems are in place to allow for protection and controlled access. You will validate that all records are maintained, disposed of, protected, and retrieved in accordance with established guidelines.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • The employee is responsible for following safe work practices, including the use of appropriate Personnel Protective Equipment.
  • Work is performed in an industrial environment, though the work is primarily sedentary (working at a desk and computer).
  • Stooping, kneeling, bending, and walking on stairs and uneven surfaces may be required.
  • The employee must be able to lift and carry items such as supplies or manuals that may weigh between 5 and 25 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity is required for operation of computer and other office equipment.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

For GS-09 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing records management guidance for managing, evaluating, or adapting a records and information management program to ensure compliance with policies and regulations. For GS-07 - Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing records management support to identify or share information on records life-cycle requirements for policy and regulation compliance. GS-9
Successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
Successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
OR
