This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Superintendent, Crow Agency in Crow Agency, Montana. Incumbent is responsible for ensuring the timely preparation of probate cases, maintaining accurate probate filing and tracking systems, and supporting the BIA probate function.

Duties
Technical and assistance work in the support of the probate process.
Set up and maintain file system in preparation of probate case to be submitted for adjudication.
Receives calls and visitors; answer inquiries from owners of land regarding rules governing probate.

Qualifications
Experience and Education Requirements: The following shows the amounts of education and/or experience required to qualify for positions covered by this standard.
GS-04: 1-year general experience OR 2 years above high school.
General Experience GS-4: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Examples such as demonstrated in understanding of the Privacy Act the use of routine forms and authority, working to meet deadlines, building memorandums and probate documents, use of information systems and software and office administration hardware such as telephone, fax machine, and email systems to communicate with stakeholders, heirs, staff.
GS-05: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 OR 4 years above high school.
Specialized Experience: Preparation of estate planning, maintenance to statistical records, prepare documents for distribution, prepare heirship data, use of automated systems to provide maintenance of probate data, track data, answer routine questions regarding probate, use of proper grammar in oral and written communication.
GS-06: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to GS-05.
Specialized Experience: maintaining statistical records of estate administration, provide guidance on estate planning, use of appropriate documents to close estate accounts, prepare probate documents for Board of Appeals, use of automated system to track notices and distribution of trust assets, use software to provide maintenance to titles, land patents, trust patents and explain technical rules of government probates using appropriate grammar in written correspondence.

One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education which shows the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
