Duties
Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Contract Safety Manager (CSM) on a Contract Safety Team in the Contract Safety Group, Safety Center, Technical Directorate, Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA).
Develops and implements an annual Contract Safety surveillance and risk mitigation program for assigned areas.
Incumbent is responsible for ensuring DCMA's internal and external customers throughout the DoD community receive the highest level of functional, technical, and professional Contract Safety support.
Applies a broad knowledge of contract administration, defense acquisition and safety policies and procedures in the performance of assigned duties.
Participates in meetings, conduct briefings, and coordinate amongst various levels of management within DCMA and other government agencies in regards to Contract Safety.
Assists the team supervisor as a focal point in the training of uncertified employees through a formal training certification program along with on the job mentoring.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement.
Creditable specialized experience includes:
Planning, organizing, leading, controlling and evaluating the safety and occupational health programs for assigned area(s);
Implementing policy and program directives published by higher echelons, analyzing the effects on contract safety activities and implementing changes as appropriate;
Applying a broad knowledge of contract administration and safety policies and procedures in the performance of assigned duties to mitigate risk to the Defense Industrial Base;
Reviewing site plans for compliance with fire and electrical codes as set forth by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and DoD explosives standards and requirements; and
Performing risk management functions relating to all safety disciplines in support of accident or incident prevention.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
