This GS-0503-08 Supervisory Recreation Fee Technician position is located at Zion National Park and will serve as part of the fee management work group overseeing daily operations of entrance stations, campgrounds, a central remit office, and traffic control operations. Duties

Responsible for directing and supervising activities of subordinate staff executing fee collection duties. Fee collection duties may include: operating and troubleshooting equipment (e.g., point of sale systems, electronic cash register, credit card machine, and/or computer), collecting and accounting for fees, managing campground reservation systems, disseminating park/area information and literature, and conducting traffic control. Serve as a uniformed front-line representative of the park. Model best practices in performance of fee collection duties which include: collecting appropriate fees at entrance stations in accordance with accountability guidelines, issuance of various park passes in accordance with current interagency pass policy, tracking and securing accountable stock, and providing excellent customer service to the visiting public. Physical Demands: This position may require standing for long periods of time, as well as walking, bending, and lifting of moderately heavy items. Mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to the high volume of personal contacts and the responsibility of dealing with large amounts of money. If applicable, extreme physical exertion may be required while performing search and rescue, wildland firefighting, and other emergency response duties. Working Conditions: This position typically works at an entrance station, campground office, fee office, remit office, visitor center, and/or visitor contact station. Work may be frequently performed in small, outdoor structures with open windows which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, snow, wind, and direct sunlight. Park areas may be geographically located in areas of high elevation, rugged terrain, or dense populations. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone and/or in isolated locations.

To qualify for this position at the GS-08 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of this announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of a Supervisory Recreation Fee Technician. Your resume must show hours per week worked for each position and the to/from dates in month/year format. Examples of Specialized Experience include, but are not limited to: Leading and/or training others in collecting appropriate fees following established accountability guidelines; Leading and/or training others in operating an electronic cash register; Leading and/or training others in completing shift reports to verify money collected, accountable stock sold, and all transactions from the shift; Resolving issues that arise in the remittance process and assisting staff with fee issues; Auditing fee collection and deposit procedures; Leading or supervising a fee collection operation to include hiring, scheduling, and managing others involved in fee collection and visitor orientation programs; and/or Working with technology and software used in revenue and fee management. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If including Volunteer Experience, please include to and from dates of service (month/year) and hours per week worked.
