You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Communications Department of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY.

Duties

You will serve as the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED). You will plan, develop and execute public affairs programs within U.S> Government organizations. You will handle sensitive and high-profile public and media queries regarding Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) and take lead on media issues. You will maintain working relationships with various Navy Medicine stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: Experience developing a public affairs program in order to effectively communicate an organization's story. Experience handling sensitive and high-profile public/media queries by facilitating subject matter experts and subordinate assets in order to promote and organization to audiences. Experience writing informational materials designed to reach local and national audiences through internal and external media. Experience responding to requests from the media and the public for information about an organization's programs and initiatives.
