About the Position: This position is located with the Defense Health Agency, Continental Network 9, at Falls Church, VA.

Duties

Direct multi-disciplinary team by planning work, setting priorities, gives expert advice, counsel, and/or instruction on marketing, sales, and administrative matters. Incumbent oversees, researches, plans, writes, executes and evaluates a wide number of communications plans, operations plans and community relations plans, with an emphasis on plans producing measurable results. Develops messaging, communications plans and supporting media and products for targeted audiences. Coordinates with Defense Health Agency public affairs leaders on the dissemination of critical information and communications services, plans, activities, community relations initiatives and products. Manages Network Office communications planning programs, to include providing input into involving Network Military Treatment Facilities, to facilitate better understanding and support of military health missions, roles and responsibilities. Reviews locally produced internal communications products to ensure a consistent agencies message is delivered in multiple communications venues and outlets.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled.
  • This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.

Develop public affairs strategy, goals objectives, and priorities; maintain effective communications with print and broadcast media representatives, analyze and evaluating impact and effectiveness of public affair program communication plans. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
