Duties

In this Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations Division. This position starts at a salary of $46,696.00 (GS-7, Step 1) to $74,250.00 (GS-9, Step 10) with promotion potential to $74,250.00 (GS-9 Step 10). Typical duties of this assignment include: Processing lost, stolen, destroyed, or missing property. Providing support in the processing of damaged vehicles and the scheduling of repairs. Providing assistance with the local agency's fleet card program to include ordering cards, performing audits, extracting reports, reconciling invoices, reporting fraud and processing override requests. Coordinating facility repairs and ensuring that requests for such are recorded into the facilities management system.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting with conducting inventories, assisting with records management, and assisting with the preparing/processing of various property reports. Preparing and conducting the agency's invoice reconciliation process. Applying methods, principles and practices. commonly used in staffing and placement processes to initiate or enter actions into internal HR systems and other position management tools. Preparing informational packages for the senior management. Education Substitution: GS-07: Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise a year of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 18 semester or 27 quarter hours. OR Superior Academic Achievement (SAA): GS-07: may also substitute for the experience required, it is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership. (1) Class standing. Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses. (2) Applicants must have a Grade-point average (G.P.A.) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on their official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum. Experience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Assisting higher graded specialists and supervisors with managing base pay, premium pay, overtime, and leave entitlements and administration. Arranging for delivery of tires, oil, and filters from the Sector for local repairs and service and arranging to shuttle vehicles to and from local garages for scheduled service in accordance with agency guidelines and supervisor guidance. Coordinating with supervisor and staff to ensure receipt of documents and that actions are completed in a timely manner. Preparing reports with data from internal data sources as well as Agency automated systems for regular and one-time informational needs by senior managers. Education Substitution: GS-09: A Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester hours or 54 quarter hours. NOTE: Your resume must explicitly indicate how you meet this requirement, otherwise you will be found ineligible. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
