This Nurse (Infection Control) is located in the Quality Assurance Division at the Fort Yuma Service Unit in Winterhaven, CA. This position serves as the Infection Preventionist and Employee Health Nurse. The purpose of this position is to provide comprehensive management of the service unit Infection Prevention and Control Program and Employee Health Program. This position reports to the Quality Management Director.
Duties
Serves as the facility Infection Control Officer and the chairperson of the service unit Infection Control Committee, which reports to Quality Council and the Governing Board.
Develops new policies and procedures utilizing current literature and in compliance with federal, state, and other regulatory standards.
Collaborates with members of the Infection Control committee to share information and implement changes to improve infection prevention within the service unit.
Prepares an Annual Infection Prevention and Control Plan for presentation and approval.
Manages and directs the service unit Employee Health Program, which includes disease detection and prevention.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education:
A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing education program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Education Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applications must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonthwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Note: Employees currently assigned to positions in this occupational series as of September 2017 will be considered to have met the basic requirements for the position occupied.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide management of the emergency management, safety & occupational health program by directing, monitoring, providing oversight and evaluation processes and activities involving Infection Control, Employee Health and Safety programs throughout the healthcare facility; construct, implement, facilitate clinical educational needs of staff adhering to nursing principles, practices and processes; OR
Education: Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field. Transcripts must be submitted.
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service 2obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Develop policies and procedures for infection control, employee health, and patient safety and ensure compliance with accreditation requirements. Understand and present health and educational resources. Manage employee health records, collect data and prepare reports for Quality Improvement and Clinical Committees.
