In this position you are to provide military personnel support, assistance, management and technical expertise covering a variety of military personnel functions for both officer and enlisted. Some duties are promotions; testing; special actions; in/out processing functions; benefits and entitlements and more.

Advise and assist the Wing Commander, and commanders/supervisors at all levels, the Director of Personnel (DP), unit leaders/supervisors, key managers and military personnel of the full range of military personnel programs
Serve as a Military Personnel Section (MPS) technical advisor for a myriad of personnel functions within all military personnel programs
Provide advice and guidance on a full range of military personnel programs including: evaluations, recognition programs, promotions, accessions, career development, retirements/separations, and personnel readiness/deployment functions
Coordinate with HQ AFMC, AFPC, AF Reserve Center (AFRC), deployment managers, Installation Deployment officers, Financial Management, Manpower, Education and Training personnel, Civilian Personnel, personnel at several AEDC Operating Locations (OL), and other host bases Military Personnel Flights to facilitate and execute effective management of the Wing Commander's military personnel programs
Perform a myriad of military personnel services to all installation level organizations
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship Required
- Obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours
- Serve as an alternate Casualty Assistance Representative (CAR)
- Must attend initial CAR training and maintain familiarity with CAR mission via regular and recurring training for purposes of building casualty notification teams and conducting beneficiary briefings
- Occasional after duty hours may be required; being on-call occasionally for active duty death notification; and must travel occasionally to conduct beneficiary briefings in a sometimes emotionally charged environment
- This position MAY be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive. Specifics will be discussed with the Selecting Official.
- Up to 60% telework possible (must reside in the local area)
- Up to 25% Travel possible
- 1-2 years of knowledge and experience working in the various MPF sections (e.g. Force Management, Customer Service, Personnel Development, etc.) desired
- 1-2 years of knowledge and experience working in a Commanders Support Staff (CSS) desired
- 1-2 years experience and familiarity with MILPDS (Military Personnel Data System) input
- Familiar with LeaveWeb; AFPC Secure Apps (e.g. BLSDM, CMS, PRDA, vOP, OPA)
- Familiar with AFIs, DAFIs, DODIs and PSDM guides and how to research them
- Comfortable having necessary conversations regarding benefits with grieving family members and able to maintain impartiality and professionalism

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 in the Federal Service. Specialized experiences is providing military personnel support, assistance, management and technical expertise covering a variety of military personnel functions, to include: officer and enlisted promotions; testing; special actions; in/out processing functions; benefits and entitlements; officer requisitions/VML process; officer/enlisted performance evaluations; awards and decorations; re-enlistments, extensions, retirements and separations; adverse actions; duty status; personnel reliability program; AFPAAS; G-series orders; and various other required programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
In-depth knowledge of a wide range of military policies, procedures, principles, practices, and regulatory requirements sufficient to advise senior managers on a wide range of conduct and performance problems
Knowledge and understanding of military organizational structure, protocol, and disciplines
Knowledge of fundamental military classification and position management principles, policies, practices, methods, and analytical techniques
Knowledge of military personnel automated data systems (e.g. MILPDS; myFSS; myEval; myDecs; AFPC Secure; DCIPS; AFPAAS; MICT)
Ability to effectively communicate, establish, and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, both across the Complex, Operating Locations, other bases, and higher headquarters
Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in an occasional high operations tempo office environment
