You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Navy Drug Screening Laboratory (NDSL) Jacksonville, Florida of NAVDRUGLAB JAX FL.

Duties

You will manage and supervise the Accessioning Division of the Initial Testing Department. You will revise schedules when manpower is unavailable to complete shift workloads and turnaround time requirements. You will make recommendations for appointment, promotion, or reassignment of subordinates to positions. You will maintain subordinates records of attendance for pay purposes. You will provide expert direction and instruction to subordinates when results obtained are unexpected, confusing, or inconclusive. You will be responsible for writing Laboratory Memoranda for the Record (MFR) in cases of deviation from Laboratory Operating Procedures. You will serve as a customer service representative to the laboratory customer base.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-08) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience managing and supervising a diverse group of Physical Science Technicians; Experience planning work schedules for subordinates on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis; Experience using various computer databases for civilian personnel management such as (DCPDS, MyBiz, SLDCADA and Total Workforce Managment System (TWMS); Experience informing subordinates of policies, procedures, changes related to Standard Operating Procedures and decisions by Command Management; Experience enforcing and promoting a safe and healthy work environment; Experience handling and properly disposing of all hazardous and biological waste; AND Experience training and certifying all laboratory technicians according to regulations. Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:
Successful completion of at least two full academic years of graduate education
OR
Successful completion of a master's degree.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of graduate-level education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements.
