You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the Navy Drug Screening Lab (NDSL) of NAVDRUGLAB JAX FL.
Duties
You will receive and prepare hand delivered specimens maintaining precise forensic chain of custody requirements.
You will pour quantitative volumes of samples into tubes for further processing, labels and validates sample identification.
You will open packages, check documentation, evaluate, identify and mark discrepancies.
You will check for specimen adulteration, insert blind control specimens, validate accessioning process and all associated documentation.
You will discard unwanted samples and place hold specimens in storage.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
Maintains elaborate custody documentation and sample hold tracking systems.
Receives and prepares hand delivered specimens maintaining precise forensic chain of custody requirements.
Opens packages, checks documentation, evaluates, identifies and marks discrepancies.
Uses appropriate disposal procedures for waste materials and assists in dumps of biological waste materials.

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE for GS-05:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of physical science, or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be combined to meet the total qualification requirements.
