The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Chief Engineer and exercise supervisory authorities over the
Branch Engineering Sections.
Organizational location of positioin: Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Command, Control, Communication, Information and Networks Directorate (HN), Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division (HNC), JBSA Lackland, TX
Duties
DUTY 1 - Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Branch Engineering Section, ensuring that the Branch's systems engineering complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
DUTY 2 - Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities
DUTY 3 - Performs a broad range of COMSE/Cyber engineering analyses and/or engineering assignments entailing unique
problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advance approaches and or new technology
DUTY 4 - Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of policy, guidance, and integration initiatives to support assigned projects, studies, or problems
DUTY 5 - As a recognized expert provides technical guidance, advisory support, lead and assistance on projects and/or major phases for broad and varied operations.

- Must Obtain/Maintain Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

- Must have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as computer, electronics, or mechanical engineering, computer science, or mathematics.
- A master’s degree in a technical related field is highly desired.

Qualifications
This is a GG-14 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-14 duties for the "Supervision/Management" work category are at the "Senior" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-14 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: 0854 COMPUTER ENGINEER
Successfully completed a professional engineering degree: The curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum or include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS.
OR
Combination of education and experience that is college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering; and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.

Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of a wide range of concepts, principles, and practices in a professional occupation, such would be gained through extended graduate study or experience and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments; and/or comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of a technical field and skill in applying this knowledge to the development of new methods, approaches, or procedures. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling/simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Broad knowledge of agency, AF, DoD and national-level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and/or project(s).
4. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships, negotiating complex issues, and resolving conflicts based on mature judgment, experience, and recognized professional standing.
5. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, and resolve complex issues or problems.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization and ability to modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems.
