About the Position: This position is located in Blanchfield Army Community Hospital, Fort Campbell, KY. Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted & climate-controlled front desk setting with routine hospital environment exposure to sick and potentially contagious patients requiring normal safety precautions. The incumbent performs the full range of receptionist, recordkeeping, and miscellaneous clerical duties within the ambulatory setting.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Receives patients and visitors as the initial point of contact, in person or telephonically.
Maintains all patients’ records, both electronic and paper, according to regulation and ensuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider identification.
Utilizes the Electronic Health Record to initiate and follow through with the check-in and discharge of patient care for the clinic/practice.
Provides information and support to patients, family members/caregivers, healthcare personnel, administrative and support personnel with the medical treatment facility (MTF).

- This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
- This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- This position has been designated Weather Essential. In the event of inclement weather conditions, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
- Incumbent is required to be screened for applicable immunizations and subject to missing/required immunizations.
- This position may require occasional travel (up to 5%).
- A qualified typist is required.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing administrative and/or clerical support duties such as: scheduling appointments, record keeping and/or filing; providing general information such as, policies, procedures, and location to patients, professional medical staff, and the general public; and utilizing office automation software and/or healthcare systems to enter and retrieve data. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: For positions GS-5 and lower: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.
