You will serve as a Industrial Equipment Mechanic Work Leader in the Tool Issue and Control Shop (06A), Maintenance Division (TRF-311), Repair Department (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will be responsible for personally performing, directing and leading the work progress of other Industrial Equipment Mechanics. You will assign the immediate tasks to be performed by individuals of the group being led. You will ensure clear and concise turnovers are written and received. You will maintain a current knowledge of policies, procedures, written instructions and other directives for the purpose of answering workers questions.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT-II level designation.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1 Serves as an Industrial Equipment Mechanic Leader primarily responsible for instructing, training, and leading the work progress of other Industrial Equipment mechanics within the shop. 2 Receives and relays instructions from the shop supervisor to the shop employees to ensure that schedules and completion dates are met in a proper and safe manner without delays. 3 Disassembles, repairs, reassembles, adjusts, operates and tests tools and equipment to assure proper performance. 4 Checks work in progress for adherence to job requirements. 5 Develops training curriculum and materials (which includes lesson plans, handouts, wall charts, transparencies and training aids) used to conduct classroom, on-the-job training, and safety training for Industrial Equipment Mechanics ensuring it does not interfere with shop operations. 6 Reports directly to the supervisor in such areas as job progress, status, delays, employee performance, and incidents of employees' non-conformance that affects overall performance of the work unit. 7 Makes adjustments as required to achieve desired operating parameters in accordance with specifications and the requirements of users. 8 Assigns the immediate tasks to be performed by individuals of the group being led. 9 Maintains a current knowledge of procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives pertaining to shop operations to answer questions of other workers. 10 Operates and sets up machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, radial drill presses and precision grinders to manufacture components and parts or re-machine existing parts. 11 Assures that tools and equipment are properly utilized, maintained and operating properly. 12 Has the ability to do the work of the position with minimal supervision. 13 Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams and illustrated part breakdowns of tools and equipment. 14 Possesses knowledge of the principles of mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics to perform job assignments. 15 Ensures accurate completion of all documentation associated with work operations.
