This position is located in Headquarters, Directorate of Resources and Planning, Division of Decision Support, Planning and NEPA (HQ210) in Washington, DC. Duties

Plans, organizes, and oversees climate science efforts and projects that are aimed at achieving and improving the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of program accomplishment. Coordinates with a wide variety of Programs within BLM and the Department to maximize climate resilience and support adaptive restoration efforts. Plans, coordinates, and oversees major climate science initiatives or projects to develop and implement new systems and/or processes that may have bureau/Department-wide use and implications. Develops priorities for effective use of resources as related to climate science. Consults with key managers and stakeholders to ensure that all implications are identified, weighed, and considered in study and discussion of effective and efficient resource use and distribution. Plays a key role in the development and implementation of program policies, plans, guidelines, proposals, processes, and recommendations on issues which cross functional lines. Provides leadership and oversight of programs that entail the implementation of the DOI Climate Action Plan and related Department Manuals.

Qualifications

You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity as indicated by the following examples: Experience with developing, designing and leading comprehensive, large scale natural resource programs and policy assignments; creating solutions to natural resource management problems, leading change, providing advice and guidance to management officials on natural resource; experience evaluating and assessing natural resource program results, processes and environmental functions related to natural resource management experience producing written materials and communicating orally with various audiences (i.e. Members of Congress, OMB, OPM, headquarters and field staff, federal organizations, and general public) on natural resource management. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
