The primary purpose of this position is to perform inspection of diverse Test, Measurement & Diagnostic Equipment, repair, maintenance work in a Precision Measurement Equip Laboratory environment involving a variety of standard, nonstandard equip to determine that physical. operative characteristics are within acceptable parameters, specifications or technical order req.
Duties
- Perform various inspections: Complete Quality Reviews on 3% of completed TMDE to evaluate end-of-line quality.
- Provide overall picture of laboratory quality, capability, and risk in order to ensure weapon system safety, accuracy, reliability, and traceability (SART).
- Analyzes and isolates maintenance problems in common, complex and unusual measurement equipment.
- Manages Scheduling Section of laboratory.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

- Must keep abreast of the latest developments in the electronics/physical dimension field and in state-of-the-art TMDE and laboratory standards.
- May be detailed to other areas and/or duties, as the mission requires.
- Graduation from the Air Force School of Metrology or certification from an equivalent course of study is highly desirable.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance
- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

- May be required to travel by military or commercial air to conferences, meetings, or other functions away from the normal duty station.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-3300, Instrument Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to do the work of a PRECISION MEASUREMENT EQUIPMENT CALIBRATOR INSPECTOR without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the principles of metrology as related to a Calibration Laboratory, quality assurance policies and inspection standards, techniques, and processes for, metrology, electronic and physical/dimensional principles.
2. Knowledge of the methods and techniques of inspections, precise measurement and analysis of electrical, electronic, and physical quantities and relationships such as standing wave ratio, power, impedance, reactance, precise time, phase noise, attenuation, temperature, humidity, local gravity, mass, pressure, and vacuum.
3. Knowledge of mathematical expressions and formulas including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry for application in construction of truth tables, logic equations, power relationships, signal phasing, etc.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles related to equipment, which is combined and interrelated with other devices and complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices with intricate functional relationships to understand the interaction of other circuits, which create a malfunction.
5. Ability to apply a wide variety of inspection techniques to examine electronic measurement equipment during or after repair, modification, overhaul, and calibration.
6. Knowledge of Air Force transportation, supply, equipment processes, and safety regulations and
procedures.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts and carries, unassisted, items weighing up to 40 pounds. Sometimes required to lift and carry items weighing more than 40 pounds with the help of weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers. The work requires working in a sitting position for extended periods of time, and frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Some work may require the aid of magnifying lenses, eye loops, and microscopes to accomplish repairs on miniature components.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Employee typically works in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas. May be required to work at remote user locations under variable conditions or within clean room envrinments where special garments including head coverings, shoe coverings, and gloves are required. Exposed to the possibility of electric shock; burns from electrical or RF energy or hot solder; and cuts and bruises.
