Duties
Serves as the Director of Security and Chief Security Officer, a second line supervisor for all Security personnel. Liaisons with local and federal level law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
Provides executive level advice and authoritative guidance to the NDU Chief Operating Officer and other University officials on the NDU Security program services and activities.
Interprets security policy originating from higher organizational levels; providing authoritative interpretation and guidance related to security and resolves issues involving conflicting security requirements.
Manages a substantial budget as well as significant contractual obligations related to security monitoring and alarm systems.
Manages NDU's Information Security and Operations Security, Privacy, Emergency Management and Industrial security programs, NDU's COMSEC and SCI programs. Directs the NDU Physical Security program for two campuses, including contract support.
Management, technical and procedural guidance and oversight of the NDU Personnel Security program to include granting access as required and manages personnel security clearance investigation programs.

- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Must obtain and maintain a Top Secret-SCI security clearance.
- This position is designated as Mission Essential. Commensurate with mission requirements, the incumbent can be required to work overtime and other than normal duty hours which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as experience managing a corporate security program, covering the full range of functions to include Personnel Security, Physical Security, Operations Security, Information Security and communications (to include privacy). Your resume must demonstrate experience 1) Developing and implementing security policies; 2) Overseeing an information security program, ensuring proper access to sensitive or classified information and/or facilities 3) Directing security inspections, reviewing reports and addressing vulnerabilities.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education is not substitutable for specialized experience for this grade level.
