The Program Support Assistant Social Work Service (SWS) is a key staff member of the management team and has specified authority to perform administrative functions. He/she assists, supports, monitors, and recommends action in the areas of program administration and customer service. He/she will be active in obtaining data for the office operating budget and setting controls to monitor expenses during the year.
Duties
The Program Support Assistant will provide an array of administrative support functions of a multi-faceted program which requires knowledge of the medical centers organization, mission, vision, function and values to assist and coordinate activities involving a broad range of services. This office is also responsible for coordination of Social Work Intern Training Program through this medical center's affiliations with the Schools of Social Work at various colleges and universities. Major duties and responsibilities include:
Provides supportive administrative functions to Social Work Service.
Assist with correspondences, responding to letters of inquiry from members of Congress, State Veterans Service Officers, VA Headquarters, and the VA Regional Office.
Collaborates all aspects for clinical privileging.
Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and or/schedules conferences to include travel processes as necessary.
Agendas, minutes, and reports are prepared independently or with limited supervisory input.
Work products are grammatically and technically sound.
Initiates requests for personnel actions.
Achieves procurement and contracting which includes preparing procurement requests.
Collaborates with multiple services to prepare requests for computer, supplies, furniture, and equipment.
Sets up a wide variety of correspondence and reports.
Updates the offices supply sources catalogues.
Performs work involving the gathering, collection, assisting and monitoring of data and statistical information in support of an organizations program operation.
Serves a primary timekeeper to specific area and back up timekeeper across service line.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0800 am- 4:30 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the 01/10/2024of this announcement.
GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Experience scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, updating office supply sources, purchasing supplies and/or equipment; Administrative experience writing correspondence and reports, preparing documentation and procurement request; and experience with Timekeeping

As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. For GS 6, must have completed 6 months of graduate level education directly related to the duties of the position.
