You will serve as a HIP TO SHORE OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR in the PRODUCTION DIVISION of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC. Limited to the Hampton Roads commuting area

Duties

You will communicate electrical procedures, proper use of tools, safe practices, operation of new equipment, and safety regulations to junior employees. You will take corrective action to resolve immediate problems encountered during daily rigging work projects. You will interpret weight handling equipment technical manuals for guidance. You will follow safety guidelines and practices in performing electrical trade related work.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Must be CPR certified.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • Call back after hours is required and overtime is necessary. Will be required to carry a cell phone during non-working hours. Call back will require a response within 15 minutes and on-site arrival within 120 minutes.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE 1) Scheduling and coordinating a variety of critical and complex work operations I involving electrical utilities and weight handling equipment; 2) Scheduling, and coordinating 480 volt, 4160 volt, and 13.8 kilovolt electrical connects, disconnects, and setups to ships and submarines; 3) Assuring all personnel utilize predetermined rigging safe practices while performing cable and equipment relocation.
