About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Serves as working leader in accomplishing a verity of trades and labor work.
Receives instructions from supervisor, passes them on to other workers, and starts work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led.
Performs self-help and preventive maintenance required to retain facilities in an acceptable state of repair.
Monitor the progress of work performed by other employees
Use hand and power tools common to required trades.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic Leader without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties such as providing supervisor information on status/progress of work, causes of delays and employee training; assuring that tools and equipment are used properly in range maintenance and repair. I can inspect, prepare and paint range structures and equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts- This position requires a reasonable degree of physical fitness and agility in reaching, bending turning or moving hands, arms feet and legs. Physical fitness is required in the handling of objects up to 50 lbs or more usually with help or the use of lifting devices. Physical agility is routinely required to operate the controls of forklifts.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside in all kinds of weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, wind and blowing sand. Inside areas are generally well lighted, but are not environmentally controlled and can be dusty with the possibility of exposure to hazardous materials/waste occurring both inside and outside. While performing duties of this position the incumbent may be exposed to air-born contaminants and fumes as well as the possibility of cuts, bruises and broken bones. Incidents may occur while operating motor vehicles, such as objects falling when loading and unloading the vehicle, operating a forklift, or working around heavy equipment. The incumbent is required to take proper safety precautions, such as wearing safety equipment as appropriate for the task being undertaken.
