About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20. The Depot is the largest employer in Calhoun County with approximately 4000 employees.
Duties
Paints and/or applies appropriate materials to a variety of surfaces, such as interiors and exteriors of buildings and structures.
Plans and lays out work in accordance with drawings, sketches, blue prints and own knowledge of construction or needed repairs.
Measures and cuts materials to the required lengths and dimensions.
Installs structural and trim items by nailing, bolting, mortising, doweling and gluing.
Installs doors and window sashes.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Required to lift items up to 25 pounds.
- Incumbent is required to occasionally lift items up to 50 pounds.
- This position requires satisfactory completion of a pre-employment and annual physical examination.
- This position may require the use of a respirator and may require that the incumbent be clean shaven for mask fitting.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common maintenance and construction tasks. I can operate common hand tools and measuring devices of the carpentry, electrical, or plumbing trades to perform simple maintenance tasks.
-Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
Physical Effort: Work requires stooping, bending, standing, walking and working in tiring positions. Works on ladders and scaffolds and occasionally is required to work overhead or in stretched, cramped or awkward positions, and hard to reach places. Frequently lifts and carries weights up to 25 pounds and occasionally weights up to 50 pounds.4.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside of buildings. Incumbent is exposed to weather conditions when working outside. There is exposure to dirt, dust, spray, fumes, and grease. There is danger of cuts from hand and power tools and danger from flying splinters and chips, and exposure to noise and sawdust when operating power tools. There is possibility of cuts, bruises, broken bones and a danger of falls when working above ground level. Wears such protective equipment as goggles and respirator when sanding and using spray gun.
