Duties

Perform quality inspection over a variety of intricate component parts, sub-assemblies, major assemblies, and various explosive items. Checkssurrounding areas for deficiencies contributing to fire hazards such as presence of trash or scrap dunnage, overgrowth of grass and electrical deficiencies. Perform inspection of trucks carrying incoming and outgoing shipment of ammunition. Assemble and merge inspection and test reports, condition code changes, stock number changes Maintain the Depot Surveillance Record Card system. Make visual, dimensional, and functional inspections. Requires the working knowledge of precision tools and instruments. Drive light and heavy vehicles as required to transport self inspection sites.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army (DA) Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. See "Additional Information" section for more information.
  • Position may require incumbent to perform duties under field conditions.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) business travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • LAUTENBERG AMENDMENT: Employee must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment/Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. See "Additional Information" section for more information.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State Driver's license to perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Ammunition Inspector~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common Ammunition Inspector duties. I can inspect such items as grenades, mines, rockets, small arms, mechanical and electrical fuses, bulk explosives and demolition items using a variety of testing equipment such as meggar testers, continuity testers, multimeters and gages without more than normal supervision. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to InspectAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading)Dexterity and SafetyKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments Physical Effort: Incumbent performs work on hard surfaces and in areas that require incumbent to stand, stoop,bend, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent lifts moderately heavy objects(25-40 pounds) for approximately 15% of the time. Working Conditions: The work is sometimes dusty, dirty, and greasy. Incumbent is subject to working with and in close proximity of unusually hazardous agents and unstable materials for a major portion of time(at least more than 25%). Incumbent is exposed to accidents and explosions which could cause deaths or injury.
