You will serve as a PRODUCTION WORKFORCE MANAGER (SHOP) in the PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will evaluate production workload requirements to efficiently and effectively allocate workforce resources to sustain the execution of repair and maintenance projects for nuclear and non-nuclear ships and submarines. You will manage workforce allocation for one or more trades within a production shops. You will evaluate project plans and other technical documents to identify trades support required to complete both long and short term overhaul, repair and maintenance projects. You will research and identify multi-faceted strategies to manage the workforce including changing work schedules or shift assignments. You will participate in and/or initiate ongoing communication with a wide variety of stakeholders including Project Workforce Managers and members of other shipyard departments to clarify work requirements.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-11) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing and evaluating production workforce plans and resources to resolve scheduling conflicts, prevent production delays, and forecast budget problems in order to manage production requirements and sustain the execution of ship and submarine repair and maintenance projects.
