This position is a Administrative Support Assistant, GS- 0303-6/7 working for the R7-Div of Refuge Budget and Information Mgmt.
This position is also open to the public under announcement R7-24-12245841-SG-DE. You must apply to each announcement separately if you wish to be considered under both recruitment methods.
Six (6) positions will be filled in the following locations in Alaska: Anchorage, Bethel, Cold Bay, Homer, Kenai, Soldotna, King Salmon, Kotzebue, Kodiak, Fairbanks, Tok.
Duties
As a Administrative Support Assistant your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Develops and formulates field level budget including estimates, justifications, and all financial activities for multiple natural resource accounts with extensive sub-activities and/or cross program, interagency or grant funding sources.
Analyzes historical budget and financial data as a preliminary to budget preparation. Identifies actual or potential problem areas, trends, significant deficiencies, areas of imbalance and makes recommendations and/or takes corrective actions. Maintains and reviews all financial documents, verifying accuracy, approving expenditures, analyzing affect to overall budget.
Provides guidance and assistance to other staff/stations in all personnel matters including health benefits, payroll problems, retirement information, job opportunities, step increases, awards, and training.
Prepares or directs the acquisition of necessary supplies, equipment, and construction to meet station needs, and ensures that purchases are in accordance with Federal procurement regulations and within delegated authority.
Provides assistance with day-to-day questions regarding various computer applications used by office staff and provides information technology management, network administration, and technical support in conjunction and consultation with the designated Information Technology Coordinator.
Promotion Potential: This position involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed represent the full performance level of GS-7. At lower grade levels, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-7.

Only experience obtained by 01/09/2024 will be considered.
In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification.
Minimum Qualification [GS-6]: Applicants must possess:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-5 level of the Federal service and provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) reviewing an organization's funds or financial data to ensure accuracy; 2) performing administrative functions, e.g., payroll, personnel, travel, and/or correspondence, using office procedures and equipment, and meeting and dealing with others. NOTE: Your resume must contain sufficient detail, e.g., begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc. for each timeframe for consideration.
Minimum Qualification [GS-7]: Applicants must possess:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-6 level of the Federal service and which provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of this position. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) preparing procurement documents; 2) preparing and maintaining acquisition requests; 3) performing micro-purchases; 4) maintaining cost accounts; 5) providing guidance on administrative procedures to others. NOTE: Your resume must contain sufficient detail, e.g., begin/end dates, hours worked per week, duties performed, etc. for each timeframe for consideration.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Time In Grade Requirement: Applicants must meet both eligibility and qualification requirements for the position of interest by the closing date of the JOA. Specifically,
i. Area of Consideration.
ii. Time-in-grade (TIG) requirements as specified in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
iii. Time after competitive appointment as specified in 5 CFR 330.502.
