This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Eastern Region, Office of the Regional Director, Division of Indian Services, Branch of Human Services in Nashville, Tennessee. NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE.

Duties

As a SUPERVISORY SOCIAL WORKER, your typical work assignments and/or responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible for the administration, development, execution, and evaluation of the entire Human Services Branch. Serve as the Awarding Official's Technical Representative and conduct reviews on contract and grant proposals and modifications to existing contracts and grants; and make recommendations for changes, approval, or disapproval of proposals and modifications. Responsible for coordination and consultation with agencies at tribal, local, county, state, and national level for purpose of developing and provision of social services to the Agency. Responsible for Region's Housing Improvement Program (HIP); providing grant and other funding opportunities to Tribes to help eliminate substandard housing and homelessness in Indian communities. Assess the social needs of the Regional Tribes, and when it is found that these needs remain unmet, develops or creates programs or locates resources to meet these needs.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Professional and Scientific Positions and Individual Occupational Requirements for GS-0185: Social Work Series). BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Social Work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the MASTER'S DEGREE in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: In addition to meeting the basic entry level qualification requirements, applicants must have the following: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and is typically in or related to the position to be filled. GS-13: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sector) which includes work involving applying practical knowledge of a wide range of social casework, family therapy, systems theory and community organization; direct provision of child welfare services, maintaining active agency participation in the varied advocacy and intervention programs and the coordination of and required cooperation with allied social service, health and other agencies; providing counseling services; developing and maintaining a formalized case management system which documents the workflow of case services with individual case plans; development and maintaining of IIM accounts; provides technical assistance on all aspects of social services programs and activities; and develops and supports program budget matters. One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
