Duties
As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will:
Coordinate all official aspects of Regional Office communication and media relations programs.
Compile information and material for use by the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, the RD and other HUD Program Directors and Field Office Directors, which concern issues and problems of direct interest to the HUD (jurisdiction) Area.
Maintain a constant awareness of sensitive issues; alerts the RD and the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and others to issues resurfacing in the press and on radio and/or television.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-14 grade level is one year (52 full weeks) of experience at the GS 13 level, or equivalent, that has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is defined as ALL of the following:
Planning, directing and executing media campaigns to convey information on Agency or Organization programs.; AND
Responding to information requests from news media and the general public pertaining to an Agency or Organization's program.; AND
Direct special events and other activities intended to develop interest in an Agency or Organization's programs.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
