THIS IS A TITLE 32 DUAL STATUS POSITION DUTY LOCATION: Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard. Area 2: All currently employed full-time temporary technician personnel and all current traditional members of the Connecticut Army National Guard.

Duties

JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to perform work involved in installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, calibrating, aligning, and maintaining the complete electronic integrated systems on Army National Guard helicopters. The organizational location of this position is AVCRAD. The AVCRAD is an industrial facility that provides sustainment base maintenance in support of regional Army National Guard (ARNG) Aviation assets and supports field maintenance in accordance with ARNG Aviation priorities. The AVCRAD maintenance activities ensure aircraft of the region are ready and available to support Federal and State missions. In addition, the AVCRAD performs National Maintenance Program (NMP) repair of rotary wing aircraft and components, limited depot airframe repair, aircraft painting, major airframe repair, depot-level component repair, and component repair and management, as directed by Army Materiel Command (AMC), and prioritized by the National Guard Bureau (NGB). NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting on electronic integrated systems composed of a number of sensor subsystems: Integrated Vehicle Health Management System (IVHMS), the Common Missile Warning System (CMWS), the Improved Countermeasure Dispenser System (ICMD), the Night Vision Goggle System (NVG), the Air Data Subsystem, the Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) and Doppler/GPS Navigation System (DGNS), Command Instrument Set (CIS); a logic subsystem, the Multiplex Data Bus System (MUX), the Multiplex Remote Terminal Units (MRTU), Data Link Terminal Units (DLTU), and Digital Automatic Flight Control System (DAFCS); and actuating subsystems, and the Digital Automatic Stabilization System (DASS), which includes the Stability Augmentation System (SAS) and Command Augmentation System (CAS) and Hover Augmentation System (HAS). Completes operational checks, inspections, tests and troubleshooting of Line Replaceable Units (LRU). Completes bench check, testing, repair, inspection, modification, programming, reprogramming, mating, adjusting, alignment, and analyzing of LRUs and shop replaceable units. Conducts debriefing of aircrews to determine the nature of system malfunctions, then documents all maintenance performed and records information related to the system, LRU's, or shop repairable units on both aircraft and historical records. Recommends methods to improve equipment performance, technical data, and maintenance procedures by reporting hardware and software malfunctions, initiates material deficiency reports both on equipment and in technical data, and assists in design changes as necessary. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas or on the aircraft in high or restricted places, under conditions of heat or cold, and occasionally outside in inclement weather. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or Radio Frequency energy, or by soldering irons. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting and carrying items weighing from 5 to 18 kilograms (10 to 40 pounds) and occasional objects weighing in excess of 18 kilograms (40 pounds). Mechanics are required to stoop, bend, and stand for extended periods of time on concrete or composition floors. On some assignments you must climb 6 to 15 meters (20 to 50 foot) towers.

Qualifications

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 24 months of specialized experience in the following: Experience demonstrating knowledge, skill, and abilities of the FWS 2610 work at the Electronic Equipment Test Facility (EETF) of an Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot (AVCRAD)/ Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG). Experience demonstrating the ability and skill to inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, align, modify, calibrate and certify the test stations, and their peripherals, support equipment and associated subsystems. Experience demonstrating the skill in using the stations to test, troubleshoot, modify, align, repair, maintain, and certify integrated avionics systems and major components of these systems. Experience demonstrating the skill in analyzing performance, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, identifying and isolating malfunctions, disassembles, modifies or repairs, reassembles, and aligns the test stations and their associated peripherals. Experience demonstrating work with complex interrelated variables that arise from a mix of computer hardware and software; and, special purpose test subsystems. Experience demonstrating the skill in analyzing malfunctions using schematics, logic and wiring diagrams, programming tables, computer program flow charts, software user guides, computer program listings and factory drawings. Experience demonstrating the skill in diagnosing circuit operating characteristics using computer query, system peculiar test equipment, and computer diagnostics. Experience in isolating problems to the failing component or part of a component by using self-test diagnostics, oscilloscopes, frequency meters, signal generators, digital, and differential voltmeters, computer registers and printouts, other special and standard tools and test equipment. Experience demonstrating the skill in removing and replacing components or assemblies down to the smallest bit, piece, or module authorized, using special and common hand tools, soldering devices and special electronic instruments. Experience in modifying and updating support equipment and software according to applicable technical publications. Experience demonstrating the skill to analyze program data and determine if the criteria is sufficient to provide adequate testing and troubleshooting. Experience in identifying recurring malfunctions and software deficiencies and determining testing voids and initiating corrective actions by writing and submitting quality deficiency reports, software deficiency reports, or proposed modifications. Experience demonstrating repair procedures based on findings and recommends program changes, procedural changes, or data corrections to correct software deficiencies. Experience demonstrating the skill in testing equipment to interface the test station system to the aircraft system to facilitate maintenance/repair of line replaceable units (LRU) from the avionics systems including radar, fire control, instrument, flight control, inertial navigation, malfunction analysis and recording equipment systems. Experience demonstrating knowledge in determining whether failures are caused by the unit under test (UUT), the test station, or the test program. Experience demonstrating the skill in identifying malfunctions in the UUT or the test station. Experience demonstrating the competence to isolate specific component(s); disassemble and repair these components by replacing solid state devices, micro-miniature modules, gyros, sensors, transducers, and any other required parts. Experience demonstrating the skill in assembling components, after repairs are accomplished and able to perform operational tests. Experience as a flight crew member for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Experience in providing instructional training to other mechanics in regard to the repair of computer controlled automatic test equipment, line replaceable units and aircraft integrated systems. Experience demonstrating participation in various types of readiness evaluations such as, Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. Experience in performing additional duties such as, structural firefighting, aircraft handling, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, or served as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Experience demonstrating the knowledge in safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to apply electronic theories and practices to identify, isolate and repair malfunctions in one or more complex integrated systems where knowledge of the entire system is necessary to interpret error data and trace back through a number of units of the system to locate deficiencies. Knowledge of the principles of digital and analog circuits, electro-mechanical devices, solid state devices theory, digital techniques, synchro/servo operation and integrated circuit theory. Ability to interpret and trace schematic, logic and wiring diagrams and use a wide variety of test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment (TMDE). Ability to perform algebraic and trigonometric formulas to solve work-related problems. Knowledge of the Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and other automated programs, publications or directives as may be applicable to the function. Skill in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Skill in duties such as, install, modify, overhaul, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, align, calibrate, and rebuild multi-system avionics complexes. Ability to format and write English in reports and presentation formats. Skill in presenting formal training presentations and briefings. Skill in applying procedures and directives by reading and interpreting material. Skill in training, mentoring, leading, and problem-solving. COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT: All applications will be considered regardless of Branch/AOC/FA/MOS. Incumbent will be required to be assigned to compatible military position within 1 year of selection. The selected individual may be required to attend formal technician school training. MILITARY GRADE (Prior to Application): Enlisted: E-3 through E-6 UNIT OF ASSIGNMENT: Any aviation unit in state SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position is covered by the medical monitoring program. Individual selected must undergo a preemployment physical examination prior to appointment. This position requires a security clearance (secret) which the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
