The purpose of this position is to augment the regular laboratory work force by performing routine Phlebotomy duties. This position is located at the Cheyenne River Service Unit, Laboratory department in Eagle Butte, SD. Open Until Filled: This announcement is Open Until the Vacancy is Filled. Duties

Prepares outgoing correspondence to be submitted to supervisor for signatures. Types in correspondence, requisitions, brochures, training and education material, patient instructions for the laboratory. Organizes and maintains a system for filing records, charts correspondence, reports other information that is necessary for the laboratory operation. Receives visitors/patients by telephone/in person, screens contacts by nature of business and routes to appropriate person. Enters lab orders from outside facility for provider review/signature. Performs phlebotomy duties, which include age specific patient assessment for the purposes of drawing blood specimens from patients of all age group.

To qualify, all applicants must first meet one of the following requirements. Specialized Experience: Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. OR; Education and Training: For GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirement applicants must also meet the Minimum Qualifications. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: GS-05 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks; Examples of specialized experience: performing phlebotomy duties and collecting specimens from patients of all ages with responsibility for ensuring quality and quantity are sufficient; computer experience that includes printing lab orders for patients and referencing individual lab sample requirements. OR; Completion of a (4) year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position. OR; Combination of education and experience that when combined meet the requirement for the GS-05 grade level. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-05 grade level. Time In Grade: Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Education

There are no education requirements, however if you are planning to substitute experience for education, you are strongly encouraged to submit a copy of your transcripts or a list of your courses including titles, credit hours completed, and grades.
