Duties

You will direct, coordinate, and review work plan; assign work tasks and projects; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems. You will complete and provide all required documentation related to personnel assigned to the electrical shop as required by directives and regulations. You will plan, approve equipment and facilities, and materials and assigns work to subordinate workers. You will ensure appropriate manning levels are established for electrical shop assigned projects by coordinating with subordinate leaders, workers and production controllers. You will ensure completion of corrective and preventative maintenance plans developed in the maintenance action plan. You will be responsible for ensuring testing of all electrical devices requiring test and/or certification will compile and maintain all test reports. You will plan and organize minor construction and repair projects as required for the delivery of power to multiple power distribution grids. You will act as liaison between power suppliers and shops during all routine and emergency maintenance activities. You will ensure shop is compliant with all required safety rules and regulations during work evolutions. You will be responsible for safe operation, diagnoses, and maintenance of electrical devices such as breakers, rheostats, rectifiers, transformers, switches, and conductors both aerial and underground. You will develop and maintain records for switching plans on primary conductor, transformers, and switches within the distribution grid to ensure power supply is maintained to supply power throughout all facilities.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Must possess and maintain a current valid State driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You must possess and maintain a class 'B' CDL.
  • You may be required to work overtime, weekends, and holidays. You will also be subject to call-back for work during off-duty hours when an emergency arises.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
