Duties

You will be responsible to install, modify distribution equipment in substations, transformers, both above ground and installed in vaults, and/or distribution centers. You will clean, adjust, and repair electrical equipment such as air and oil circuit breakers and remote control supervisory and telemetering equipment. You will construct and install rigid conduits. You will troubleshoot distribution circuits and generating and controlling equipment to locate and correct the causes of outages and improper operation. You will visually check the work of contractors for compliance with contract specifications on new construction. You will string wires and hoist conductors up to the cross arms. You will be responsible for installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, testing, and loading new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Must possess a current valid State Driver's License.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current Arizona Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: perform common tasks including installing and pulling cable underground from source of feed through ducts; and removal and replacement of utility poles and pole hardware. WG-08: This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: Perform work as part of an electrical team or line crew to perform routine installation, maintenance, and repairs on electrical power control equipment, distribution lines, or electric-generating equipment.
