Join the team! This position is located in the Headquarters Office of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Office of the Executive Director, Directorate for Epidemiology (EP), Office of Hazard Identification and Reduction (EXHR). The incumbent designs, and develops mathematical principles, theories, and techniques, for statistical methods to be used by Survey Statisticians and Program Analyst in the Division.

Qualifications

In addition to the mandatory education requirement, all applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:   1) Authoritative source of knowledge in a wide range of statistical/mathematical methods and analyses; 2) Expertise in statistical design of experiments, risk analyses, nationwide survey, data design and analyses; 3) Experience in generating innovative and/or alternative approaches to data collection and statistical analyses; and 4) Communicate with and advise top agency officials on all statistical and data collection issues. Evidence of the above specialized experience must be supported by detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held.  Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities as they relate to this position. Education

Mandatory Education Requirement. All applicants must meet one of the following requirements to qualify:

A. Degree: that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics and 6 semester hours were in statistics.

OR

B. Combination of education and experience - at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

There is no substitution for specialized experience at this grade level. All applicants must possess at least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level as described in the Qualifications section of the vacancy announcement.
