This position is located in the Office of Research and Engineering. The Office of Research and Engineering (RE) is an investigative office providing scientific and technical expertise for NTSB accident investigations in all modes of transportation. The incumbent will serve as an Administrative Support Specialist and will be responsible for providing mission and administrative support regarding budgetary and personnel issues.
Duties
As an Administrative Support Specialist, GS-0301-09, you will perform the following major duties:
Prepares and initiates the processing of office staff requisitions and purchase order requests for items such as equipment, supplies, subscriptions, and maintenance. Maintains a system to track requisitions to ensure they are processed, received, paid, and completed.
Completes approved purchases with the office Government Purchase Card (GPC) in accordance with governing requirements and agency policy. Provides follow-up order status updates to requestors. Tracks purchases, receipt of good/services, uploads required supporting documents, and reconciles purchases in accordance with agency guidance.
Performs functions within budgetary, personnel, payroll, official travel, procurement, and administrative procedures in support of the Administrative Officer. Ensures compliance with agency and office procedures and in accordance with current laws, rules, regulations, processes, and procedures.
Has knowledge of administrative concepts and practices to recommend changes in administrative policies, to devise and implement procedures and office practices, and to anticipate any administrative and program support challenges.
Consolidates, monitors, updates, and reports upon all division statistics, performance metrics, and employee information. Anticipates and develops the collection schedule for required information. Develops filing and archival system for storage and ready retrieval of this information and documents these procedures for access by management.

Qualifications
For the GS-9, You must possess the following:
A. Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B or J.D., if related.

B. One Year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience assisting with reviewing and analyzing administrative functions such as official travel, timekeeping, and Government Purchase Card purchasing; formulating and recommending new and revised administrative policies; maintaining the office calendar, scheduling meetings, and following-up to assure assigned tasks are completed; coordinating conferences, making travel arrangements, preparing agendas, and making necessary arrangements for rooms, seating, and audiovisual or teleconferencing equipment.
