ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: This Nurse (Outpatient) Position is located at the Colorado River Service Unit, Moapa Health Clinic, Outpatient Services in Moapa, Nevada. The incumbent is assigned to the weekday shift, Monday through Friday. The primary responsibility for position is to provide direct nursing care services determined by patient needs for the Outpatient department . The Position is supervised by the Supervisory Nurse Practitioner.
Duties
Major Duties:
Provides patient assessments, treatment implements nursing interventions based on Unit patient care standards
Initiates treatments, medications, emergency and resuscitative measures based on appropriate utilization of standing orders and unit protocol's.
Administers therapeutic and emergency measures as prescribed by the medial provider and operates specialized equipment such as EKG machines, automated external defibrillator, automated vital sign machines, and other diagnostic equipment.
Provides patient and family education for treatment of services and completes each visit thru EHR ( Electronic Health Records).

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS-GS-0610-09:
Possession of a master's degree in professional nursing:
OR
Possession of a diploma, associate degree or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program AND One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Providing nursing care, triaging patients, recognizing and intervening in acute life-threatening situations, cardiac and respiratory failure management per Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) protocols; interpreting data about the patient's status in order to identify the patient care needed; independently planning, scheduling and providing comprehensive nursing care.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
