You will serve as a Materials Handling Inspector in the Compact Fleet Ordnance Logistics Division of NMC CONUS West Detachment Point Mugu.

Duties

You will determine the detail locations within storage facilities as well as proper stowage of cargo within vessels in accordance with the load plan. You will use optical scanning devices to document and record asset locations. You will receive, issue, store, segregate, select, handle, prep, inventory, and ship ordnance material including ammunition, explosives, chemical munitions, fuels, missiles and associated components, and various other hazardous or inert materials. You will ensure the quality and safety of ordnance material and operations as related to the receipt, issue, storage, handling, segregation, renovation, preservation and packing of such items. You will make decisions based on age life, shelf life, condition, and configuration of items involved.

Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license with a Hazard Material Driver endorsement upon hire.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current forklift certification.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You will be required to perform occasional onboard ship work.
  • You will be required to be trained and certified in Explosives Operator Material Handling Equipment (MHE), Explosives Operator Weight Handling Equipment (WHE), and Weapons Quality Assurance (QA) Program within 60 days of selection.
