Position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or Detail not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Promotions or Details may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment not to exceed 1 year, if candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Temporary Appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

Duties

Plan and carry out difficult and complex assignments to lead studies to identify improvements in the way IT architecture is applied to key business functions. Design, develop, test, and evaluate information system security throughout the systems development life cycle. Apply and/or assess enterprise architectures (EA) and develop EA products to ensure compliance with DoD EA strategic goals.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies: 1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. In addition to the competencies, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service which includes: 1) Overseeing existing and emerging advanced Information Technology (IT) systems and services; 2) Applying and/or assessing enterprise architectures (EA) and developing EA products to ensure compliance with DoD EA strategic goals; AND 3) Applying appropriate level of security controls to assets for enforcement of protection measures. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Data and Content ManagementEnterprise ArchitectureProgram Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
