Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Enterprise Services, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, located in Washington, DC.

Duties

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Enterprise Services, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, will allow you to utilize your expertise in digital communications to develop, refine, and execute Enterprise Services' digital engagement strategy, which includes web content management and visual/video product management. This position starts at a salary of $132,368.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $172,075.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $172,075 (GS-14 Step 10). In this Digital Communications Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals and integral to promoting content and workforce messaging on a day-to-day basis by managing new initiatives, developing a digital engagement strategy, and performing analysis of digital media trends. Typical work assignments include: Developing service-wide strategies and programs that ensure communication and outreach to customers and stakeholders is of the highest quality. Analyzing organizational-specific policy issues to identify and to anticipate communication needs and potential reaction from stakeholders. Serving as the graphic design liaison between Enterprise Services (ES) and the industry, ensuring ES stays current with the latest software and trends. Developing audio/visual productions and presentations, motion graphics, a variety of visual information designs, community-outreach efforts, and promotions. Serving as the project leader for digital media projects.

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing strategic direction for web communications and digital media. Developing audio/visual productions and presentations, motion graphics, a variety of visual information designs, community-outreach efforts, and promotions. Transforming spoken or written descriptions of items, issues, or events into visual representations without the benefit of existing pictures, models, or diagrams. Monitoring effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of web and digital media programs.
