This position is located in Dallas, TX, in the Division of Risk Management Supervision of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and serves as a recognized technical authority responsible for planning, analyzing, assessing, and directing the review of commercial credit risks at the nation's largest and most complex financial institutions.
Duties
Directs and conducts bank supervision and examination functions, with a view toward assessing credit risk, as well as strengthening and improving the condition of the assigned organization.
Participates with planning and development of new and revised procedures and techniques for dealing with bank portfolios that include unique or complex credit risks.
Conducts or coordinates horizontal reviews of institutions throughout the Region with complex credit risks that may require heightened monitoring and creates strategies to detect, assess, and mitigate identified risks.
Monitors all credit-related developments applicable to insured financial institutions in the Region, including accounting, reporting, and regulatory changes, as well as new activities and products.
Prepares written reports summarizing the results of analyses, or to inform senior management of significant events or issues.
Communicates with financial institution management, and effectively responds to or resolves their questions, complaints, and inquiries in line with FDIC protocols.
Initiates, conducts, or acts as lead in conferences or meetings with other supervisory agencies and bank officials.
Qualifications
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Requirement: Applicants must be a Commissioned Risk Examiner in the FDIC.
To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-14 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as taking a leadership role in the review of supervisory matters or examining large, financial institutions to identify and address commercial credit risks.
