This position is part of the Air Force Elements, U.S. Transportation Command. The incumbent will serve as the principle office assistant, performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of the Director of Acquisition.
Duties
As a SECRETARY (OFFICE AUTOMATION) at the NK-0318-3 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Prepares a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other sources.
Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives.
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
Independently notes and follows-up on commitments made at meetings and conferences by staff members, and maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates meeting arrangements, and/or schedules meetings and/or conferences.
Develops, establishes, updates, and maintains office procedures and records/files of various types to ensure effective and efficient operation of the office.

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays
- May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise
Qualifications
You may qualify at the NK-03 if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the NK-II (GS-07) grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector:
Performing procedural and administrative work of an office such as preparing and editing documents, maintaining files/records, and making and preparing travel arrangements.
Working within office functions and commitments of supervisor to prepare and review correspondence, to screen telephone calls and visitors, to maintain supervisor's calendar.
Using various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
