Duties

Revises preventative maintenance and calibration cycles based on Army guidance, regulations, manufacturers’ literature, and local conditions. Serves as the automated maintenance system manager for the maintenance operation to include all data files and reports that pertain to medical maintenance services and equipment readiness within the area of responsibility. Develops and updates standard operating procedures, system level procedures and work instructions as required, and explains work requirements, methods, policies, and procedures. Repairs electronic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical medical equipment to include troubleshooting, identifying source of problem(s), and replacement of defective printed circuit board(s), or other parts as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.

  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.
  • The incumbent of this position description must have, at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
  • This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). The employee is subject to random drug testing. Pre-employment drug testing and participation in random drug testing is a condition of employment.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: E4 through E9 and WO1 through CW3 COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENTS: The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more classes of equipment. The experience must include knowledge of standard shop terminology. A basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment. Experience must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical publications. Knowledge is of the type gained from technical training, education, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months of specialized experience or knowledge of the following: Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment. Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements. Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements. Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met. Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. Must have at least 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.
