THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is part of the IN Surface Maintenance Office, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number D1257000. If you would like the complete list of duties, please contact the POC of this announcement.

Duties

Serves as a recognized authority on the repair and operation of various types of ARNG equipment. Provides advice, assistance, and guidance regarding maintenance management systems, material readiness programs, cost reduction programs, and maintenance shop practices in maintenance facilities. Prepares and conducts both classroom and on-the-job training designed to upgrade, improve, and/or update the knowledge and working skills of unit maintenance personnel. Evaluates directives to ensure adherence to standard methods, conformity in maintenance procedures, and the proper use of maintenance equipment, facilities, and personnel. Reviews the effectiveness and efficiency of equipment and maintenance management and needs for improvement of existing practices and the impact on the overall maintenance program. Performs hands on maintenance procedures to personnel on proper trade techniques, practices, and explains safety precautions involved in maintenance. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. You must be a CURRENT member of the Indiana Army National Guard in order to apply for this position.
  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.
  • Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E4 through E9, or WO1 through CW2 Compatible Military Assignments: Compatible Military Assignments: ENL CMF: 88, 91, 92, 94 WO: 91, 92, 94, 882A The policy to have a compatible MOS/AFSC has been suspended. When reinstated, you will have one year to meet the qualifications of this position or meet the requirements in the guidance set by NGB. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training which has provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more classes of equipment. The experience must include knowledge of standard shop terminology. A basic knowledge of mechanical principles relating to equipment. Experience must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret blue prints and technical publications. Knowledge is of the type gained from technical training, education, and experience in functions such as repairing, overhauling, maintaining, constructing, or inspecting equipment. Experience using computer and automation systems. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 24 months experience, education, or training which provided knowledge and skill in applying commonly used equipment, facility, or service principles and concepts. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience which provided knowledge of maintenance programs and techniques. Knowledge and skill in applying principles, concepts, and methods of equipment design. Experience in the use of tools and test equipment. Experience developing, installing, inspecting, or revising equipment maintenance programs and techniques. Must have at least 12 months experience or equivalent at next lower grade level. Education

Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - At the GS-9 level, a masters or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree may be substituted. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for Education, you must provide documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
