About the Position: About the Position: This position is assigned to the Mat Sinking Unit serving as foreman for 18-55 positions, in charge of daily accomplishment of maintenance and repair of a variety of floating plant and engineer equipment, and operation of mat boat internal electrical and mechanical equipment. NOTE: The duty location of this position will be wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located.

Duties

Participates with superiors in preliminary discussions where work proposals are outlined and considered prior to action and makes pertinent recommendations. Assigns work to individual workers and subordinate supervisors (if any), explaining requirements, methods, layouts, drawings, setups, standards and schedules. Inspects work for compliance with standard specifications, methods and instructions. Seeks means for improving operations, simplifying methods and reducing costs. Acts to eliminate or minimize safety hazards by requiring observance of safety and fire prevention regulations and instructing and training subordinates in the safe and efficient performance of their duties.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens.
  • Work in inclement weather conditions.

Duties include: Performing work operations with a team of trade workers and labor workers, such as direct the work of lower-grade employees. These duties are to accomplish the daily maintenance and repair of a variety of floating plant and engineer equipment, and operation of mat boat internal electrical and mechanical equipment. Assist workers in general maintenance of minor repairs and major overhauls of floating plant and heavy mobile equipment. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability To Lead or SuperviseKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Use of Measuring Instruments Working Conditions: Works inside on concrete floors or steel decks; also works outside on steel decks subject to all weather extremes bruises, burns, and electrical shock. Exposed to dirt, grease, exhaust fumes, cuts and mashed fingers Physical Work: The work, involves standing, walking, stooping, climbing and crawling. Work may be performed in an awkward or cramped position.
