The primary purpose of this position, MATERIALS EXPEDITER, WG-6910-07, is to route and expedite the movement of parts, end items, supplies, and materials within production and repair facilities to meet priority needs.
Duties
Route and move parts, assemblies, and other materials into and out of industrial shop facilities.
Receive routed materials, parts, components, and assemblies.
Select parts and materials to be turned into Supply.
Receive requests for parts and materials.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

- The position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.

- As required, may train and/or guide lower grade or lesser-experienced employees.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6900 Warehousing and Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employee regularly handles weights of 25 pounds and over with assistance. Material handling devices and assistance of other workers are available for handling especially heavy items. Heavy exertion is frequent. Frequent kneeling, crouching, stooping, and walking are required.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Regularly exposed to possible injuries associated with handling equipment. Work is usually performed indoors in well lighted and well-ventilated shop areas. May be exposed to outdoor conditions for short time periods. Regularly exposed to shop noises, dirt, fumes, and vibrations.
