Duties

This position is located in the Office of Energy Market Regulation (OEMR or Office). The Office is responsible for the economic, technical, market, and policy analyses supporting recommendations to the Commission on matters of jurisdiction to the Commission. The Office has primary responsibility for preparing analyses and recommendations in response to applications filed with the Commission under Federal Power Act (FPA) sections 203, 204, 205, and 206; Natural Gas Act (NGA) sections 4 and 5; and the Interstate Commerce Act (ICA). In addition to the direct responsibilities of the Office, the Office also participates in the development of rulemakings, policy statements, recommendations on investigations, and other products for Commission consideration. The scope of the products can be wide ranging. The Office provides advisory assistance to the Chairman, Commissioners, and other Commission staff offices; advisory assistance to other government agencies, regulated entities, and the public; and review of proposed legislation and preparation of Commission testimony. The Office invites and encourages multi-disciplinary teams in the development of recommendations.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
