Duties
Primary Care C&P practitioners are equipped to execute and educate on all essential services within Primary Care for students, residents, and fellows. They extend educational opportunities to healthcare personnel seeking training in Primary Care services, such as psychology and social work interns, mental health residents, physician assistant and nursing students, and medical residents. Their key responsibilities involve conducting C&P examinations for patients, offering guidance to junior mid-level providers when needed, and actively engaging in interdisciplinary team efforts for seamless cooperation across departments, ensuring the maintenance or enhancement of patient care quality. They also contribute to refining service delivery and may engage in facility-wide initiatives, in addition to fulfilling other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
Duties include:
Primary Care staff oversee medical care, aiding residents and mid-level practitioners in treating C&P patients.
They evaluate patients' physical and mental changes, documenting progress notes concurred with resident and attending notes.
Primary Care C&P providers coordinate within and outside their Service Line for veterans' care plans, fostering clear, collaborative engagements.
They conduct consultations, providing clinical care, medical education, and research in the C&P setting.
Staff in C&P hold appropriate credentials, participating in hospital committees, educational programs, and quality improvement through peer review.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 0800-1630
Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Physician Assistant Basic Requirements
Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~
Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~
Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.

The full performance level of this vacancy is 3. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in the range of 2 to 3.
Physical Requirements: Light lifting, under 15 pounds, light carrying under 15 pounds, pulling hand over hand 1.5 hours (varies), pushing, 1 hour (varies), reaching above shoulders, use of fingers, walking (6 hours- varies), standing (8 hoursvaries), repeated bending (4 hours varies), use of hands and fingers, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously, near vision correctable at 12" to 16" Jaeger 1 to 4, hearing (aid permitted).
